Tab Pilot — a command palette for Chrome

The Tab Pilot palette open over an article, listing open tabs and tab actions with keyboard hints.

Tab Pilot is a command palette for the whole browser — the keyboard-first launcher Arc’s command bar and the abandoned Omni extension used to be, rebuilt fast, local-first, and maintained.

Press ⌥K on any page and fuzzy-search every open tab, your history and your bookmarks at once, ranked by frecency. Run tab actions, do inline math, expand text snippets, and — opt-in — ask AI about the page you’re on, answered by JanteChai.

It’s a study in restraint: ~230 KB, no telemetry, no account, and a privacy page that says exactly what leaves your device and when (almost nothing).

What it exercises

  • A sub-50ms fuzzy ranking loop over tabs, history, and bookmarks as you type.
  • A content-script overlay that behaves identically on every site, in a shadow DOM.
  • An opt-in AI path with proof-of-work auth and a strict “what it sends” contract — no login, no tracking, tab text only when you ask.
